Front End Upgrades

This release brings a number of refinements, reflected on both the staff and public side, that are focused on improving the user experience as it relates to design, security, accessibility and aesthetics. Changes have been made to the user interface (UI) to provide a more modern look and feel, as well as interjecting more consistent imaging throughout the site to facilitate easier interaction. These changes are a part of the ongoing effort to ensure the application is intuitive, accessible, secure and efficient for all users, to provide a better experience.

Two key enhancements are the App Input Switch and Expanded Clickable Areas. The App Input Switch is a component designed to increase the clickable area, making interactions easier and reducing the need for precise clicks. Users will experience a smoother interaction, with a 400% increase in touch target areas, which is especially beneficial on mobile devices or for users with accessibility needs. The expanded clickable areas include a redesign of key interactive elements, such as the gift information page to expand clickable areas and streamline navigation. This change is aimed at reducing navigation errors and speeding up user transactions by adopting a more familiar interface inspired by best practices in e-commerce usability.

Another part of this upgrade includes new UI components, the Lozenge Component, App Icon Component, and the Affirmation Component. The Lozenge Component is a new, versatile component for displaying status indicators like 'Live', 'Draft', or 'Open' in a visually intuitive manner. This can be implemented across various parts of the application to standardize status displays, using a simple one-line code for integration. Based on a predefined palette, it allows for flexibility and consistency in UI design. The App Icon Component standardizes icon usage across the application, supporting various icon libraries (Prime, Material, Custom). This ensures that icons render correctly with appropriate spacing and classes, and can be adapted to display different levels of severity (error, warning, info). The Affirmation Component simplifies the creation of alert messages, ensuring consistent spacing and color usage. It provides a consistent appearance for one-line alerts that differ from standard alert styles, enhancing the visual coherence of messages across the application.

We have incorporated more advanced UI components to improve layout and usability. This enhancement provides the elegance and functionality of the user interface by allowing for text integration within dividers and optimizing space utilization.

Ultimately, the numerous enhancements to style and the coding changes will improve user experience and make it easier to continue to build out new features in the future.
