How Pledges Work Within a Campaign

This article explains how Pledges work within a Campaign.

A Pledge is commitment from a Donor that they will give a certain amount of money within a particular timeframe. The organization tracks the money that has been given to the Campaign and that has been Pledged to be given.

To make a Pledge with Online Giving:

  • Donor selects the Fund to which they want to Pledge
  • Fills out the Pledge information
  • At some point the Donor Creates a Gift to fulfill the Pledge

The Gift and the Pledge are both tracked in the Online Giving System. If a church has both Online Giving and Church Manager, then a Donor may submit a Pledge without submitting a Gift. Pledges in Church Manager can be fulfilled by both online gifts and physical contributions.

The system tracks Pledges and Campaigns and their progress and sends out reminders and thank you messages to Donors for helping achieve a goal.
